Benton High Alum is Headed to the NCAA National Championship

Bossier City Native, Emily Ward, is now headed to the March Madness NCAA National Championship!!

LSU senior guard Emily Ward from Bossier Parish has become the first player from the region to join the LSU team.

Though Ward had offers from various other colleges, it was always her dream to play for the Tigers, and she chose the preferred walk-on route for LSU.

Her dedication paid off when she was awarded a full scholarship earlier this season. Ward has played in 25 games this season, but her playing time is not the only important factor.

The amount of respect and admiration her teammates have for her became evident when she was voted team captain and her scholarship was announced during a team meeting before practice.

Now the LSU women, captained by Emily ward is headed to the National Championship for the very first time ever!! Geaux Tigers!!
